the Lagoon 50’s rig stepped further aft offers nothing but advantages for family cruising:
- Simpler: thanks to the self-tacking jib and the shorter boom, maneuvers become child’s play.
- More efficient: the high aspect ratio of the mainsail and the greater choice of headsails for downwind sailing maximizes performance for the cruising sailor’s preferred points of sail.
- Gentler: moving the mast toward the center of the boat limits pitching, which is uncomfortable and detrimental to performance.

A natural extension of the massive cockpit, the bathing platform and the transom skirts are conducive to a happy and peaceful relationship with the elements.
